Repeat Music on YouTube: Loop a Song or Section

Want to repeat music on YouTube? The right method depends on what you want to hear again: the whole song, or one specific part such as a chorus, lyric, or guitar riff.

YouTube can repeat a full video with its built-in loop setting. For a short musical passage, set a start and end point so the rest of the video does not keep playing between reps.

Repeat a full song on YouTube

To keep one music video playing from the beginning, turn on YouTube's Loop option:

  • On a computer: right-click the video player and choose Loop.
  • On a phone or tablet: tap Settings, open Additional settings, then choose Loop video.

This repeats the whole video, including any intro or outro. You can also loop a playlist from its playlist controls. The exact controls can vary by device; YouTube has the current steps for looping videos and playlists.

Repeat just a chorus, lyric, or riff

If you want one part to repeat, use a section looper such as YTubeloop. It plays the YouTube video and lets you choose the part you want to practice.

  1. Copy the link to the YouTube music video.
  2. Paste it into the video field on YTubeloop.
  3. Find the section you want. Drag the start and end markers on the timeline, or use the Timer button to mark the start and end while the video plays.
  4. Press play. Adjust either marker if the loop clips the first beat or the end of the phrase.
  5. Use the speed control if you want to hear a detail more slowly, then return to normal speed to check the rhythm.

For a riff, start with a musical phrase or a couple of bars. Leave a little breathing room around it so the loop feels natural instead of cutting straight into a note.

Use the loop to practice, not just replay

Give each repeat a small purpose. For example:

  • Listen once and notice the rhythm or phrasing.
  • Play or sing along on the next pass.
  • Slow it down briefly if one part is hard to catch.
  • Try the phrase without the video, then listen again to compare.

If you are learning a song by ear, focus on one short section at a time. If you are just enjoying the track, a full-song loop is simpler and keeps the music flowing.

Quick questions

Can I repeat one song on YouTube?

Yes. Use YouTube's Loop setting to repeat the entire video. If you want only a chorus or riff to repeat, choose a start and end point with a section looper.

Can I repeat a YouTube playlist?

Yes. YouTube's playlist controls include a repeat option. Use that for a set of tracks; use the video Loop option when you want one full music video to repeat.

Can I slow down a song while I practice?

YouTube provides playback speed controls on supported devices, and YTubeloop includes a speed selector. The available controls may differ between players and devices. See YouTube's playback speed guide.

Make a loop for the part you want

For background listening, repeat the whole song. For learning, choose one chorus, line, or riff and loop only that part. Paste a YouTube link into YTubeloop to set up a section and get back to the music.
